Politics is a game of lying until you get into office; once there, attempting to fill the public's need while helping your campaign supporters; and after, to live your life peacefully with the illusion that you helped the country in every way you could have. This isn't to say our presidents were all bad, but none were flawless.
The ugly side of politics is well hidden by the battles the candidates wage agains each other. If you boil it down though, all the advertising funds come from somewhere. This ends up being big business, which lobby the govenment for support if their candidate had won, ensuring their needs be met.
If we could just have smart, honest, carring people run for president without the burden of having to make deals with the devil, the country would be much better off.
The moral of this story, if there is one, is to always look deeper, play devil's advocate, and be willing to see the facts for what they are.
I hate politics... -_-
